What is Intermodal Drayage?

Intermodal drayage is the short-distance transport of containers between different modes of transportation, from port to warehouse, warehouse to rail, or any combination. It's called "the first mile" because it's often the first (or last) leg of a long-distance shipment.

Quality Warehouse specializes in this critical link, operating daily at NY/NJ ports and maintaining direct rail access at our facility. With our company-owned fleet and strategic location in Raritan Center, we eliminate bottlenecks and keep your goods moving efficiently through the supply chain.

We monitor your incoming containers, schedule port appointments for our drivers, and execute the full drayage process – using Quality’s own drivers and fleet to move your product safely and efficiently from Ship to Warehouse.

Receiving and Storage

Cross-Docking or Storage

We unload your containers at Quality Warehouse, inspect all products for damage or irregularities, and then store and record them in our Warehouse Management System – placing each product in its assigned location within the facility.

Containers can be immediately transferred to another transport mode (cross-docking) or stored at our facility for order fulfillment.
